Wavolio is designed for listening without an account. This policy explains the information involved when you explore stations or contact us.
Listen Together rooms
Invite-only rooms temporarily store station IDs, playback state, anonymous session-token hashes, and connection timestamps on our server. Anyone with the invitation link can join; links are not passwords. Host and guest tokens are kept in this tab’s session storage and are never included in invitations. Rooms expire after at most 12 hours, or after 10 minutes without a host heartbeat. Expired room files are removed when accessed or during periodic cleanup triggered by requests; files may remain until that cleanup occurs. Hashed IP-based hourly creation counters help limit abuse; we do not store raw IP addresses in room files. Audio continues to come directly from broadcasters.
Saved on your device
Favourites, recently played stations, Sound Passport discoveries and listening dates, saved journeys, volume, interface language, and dark/light preferences are saved in your browser’s local storage. Wavolio does not upload this listening history or these preferences to a user account. Use “Clear saved data” to remove Wavolio’s stored preferences and history from this browser. Clearing browser data also removes them. Shared Journey links contain the journey title, optional note and selected station identifiers; anyone with a link can open that collection. They do not contain your Sound Passport or listening history.
Connections and live radio
Your browser connects directly to broadcasters to play audio and may request station artwork from external websites. Those providers receive connection information such as your IP address and browser information, and their own privacy practices apply. Wavolio does not record or rebroadcast the audio. Broadcasts may contain advertising provided by the station.
Directory and hosting
Our server requests station information from Radio Browser and sends station-selection requests to its play-count endpoint. The hosting provider and directory may process technical request information for delivery, security, and service operation. Server caching holds public station information, not a copy of your device-saved listening history. Host log retention depends on the hosting configuration and provider policies.
Cookies and analytics
Wavolio currently adds no advertising trackers or analytics scripts. Local storage supports the features described above. Hosting infrastructure, private-preview authentication, and external providers may use their own cookies or other storage. This policy will be updated if our own tracking practices change.
Contact messages
If you email contact@wavolio.com, we receive the email address and information you include. We use it to respond to support, privacy, station correction, or rights requests. Email is processed by our email provider and retained as needed to handle the request and legitimate recordkeeping. Please avoid sending sensitive information.
Your choices and questions
You can clear device-saved data, stop playback to stop the live-stream connection, or contact contact@wavolio.com about privacy, access, correction, or deletion requests. External station and hosting services may operate in other countries. Changes to this policy will be dated on this page.
